Christmas Card - UmWowStudio

I'm up on the UmWowStudio blog today with this Christmas card featuring a chipboard piece and a stencil from the UmWowStudio store.

To create this card, I started by applying some super heavy gesso through the checker board stencil.  Next I applied some shimmery red and gold mists followed by some little gold beads.

While my card front was drying, I covered a piece of the grid border chipboard with gesso, then adhered it to the card front on top of some messy metallic gold thread.  The grid border is quite possibly my favorite UmWowStudio piece!

A couple of pretty flowers and a sentiment completed the card.

Thanks so much for visiting today!

My Creative Scrapbook: Ladylike Layout + Doll Stamp Card

It's the 5th of the month, and that means it's kit reveal day at My Creative Scrapbook!

The August Limited Edition kit features the Debutante collection from Prima Marketing.  What a breathtaking assortment of papers, chipboard stickers, and flowers.

There are also complementary papers from Blue Fern Studios and Webster's Pages, along with a beautiful Blue Fern Studios chipboard frame, gorgeous trims, and lovely buttons.  A bottle of Prima Color Bloom spray mist and a Prima doll stamp are also included! Wow!

This is one of the layouts that I created with the kit along with mixed media goodies from my stash:

For my background, I used 5 colors of Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays (see product list below) and a chevron stamp from Viva Las Vegastamps.  I also added some string for texture.

My background color choices were inspired by the Lindy's Stamp Gang August color challenge:

The Lindy's Stamp Gang products that I used on my layout are:
C'est la vie Cerise
Cotton Candy Pink
Merci Beaucoup Mint
Merry-Go-Round Green
Shabby Turbine Teal

I also made this quick card with the kit:

How fun to have a Prima doll stamp included in the kit! To create the doll, I stamped it several times on various scraps of leftover kit paper (and on the stamp packaging for the skin pieces!), fussy cut the pieces, and assembled them.  Then I simply attached it with foam squares to the card front.

For the subtle white circles on the background, I dipped a cap from a water bottle into super heavy gesso and stamped it onto the card.

Here's the gorgeous kit:

ADORNit Guest Designer: More Forever Family + GIVEAWAY!

It's Day 2 of guest designing on the ADORNit blog, and here is what I'm sharing today using the Forever Family collection:
(scroll down for the giveaway)

When I saw the "Together is the Best Place to Be" laser die cut from the Family Vignette set, I was immediately inspired to use it as the focal point on a card. This card came together really quickly- a few strips of the reverse sides of the "Family Wordplay" and "Family Tickertape" patterned paper and a border sticker from the "Kindred" sticker set make up the base of the card.

I added 2 decorative corners from the "You, Me, Us" sticker set, mounted the focal point lasercut with foam squares, and tied a big white bow using ribbon from my stash.

I topped it all off with a cute little wood heart from the Family wood shapes set, which I detailed with a white liquid pearl pen. A simple but lovely card for my sweetie!

Thank You Cards: Ruby Rock-It & Fiskars

Hey all, I just wanted to share a pair of cards that I have up on the Ruby Rock-It blog today.

We're featuring the Arcadia, Reminisce, and Mother Nature collections this month, so I have used products from those lines to create these cards.

Aren't the trims beautiful? I've added a pink butterfly chipboard accent and a trio of sweet off-white heart stickers.

The second card follows the same design as the first but moves from serene blues to pretty peaches and pinks. I loved the trim so much that I doubled up on it this time!

The flower focal point was made using dies from my stash and centered with a pearl-adorned floral chipboard piece. I added additional pearls along the bottom of the card to further dress it up.

I've been enjoying our collaboration with Fiskars this month and love the pretty detailing that the hearts border punch added to my cards.

If you stop by the Ruby Rock-It blog, you'll find my supply list as well as a beautiful canvas created by my teammate, Pattie Beltran.

Thanks for stopping by!

Quick Clean & Simple Cards from Scraps: Ruby Rock-It

Hey there, today I would like to share some quick tips for creating sweet handmade cards when time is of the essence.

While many of us love to add layer after layer of paper and embellishments to our projects, sometimes life just doesn't slow down enough to be able to devote a lot of time to crafting. Still, giving a handmade card over a store bought one is almost always preferred.

Ruby Rock-It understands how quickly life can move and offers a whole line of pre-cut, scored, embossed card bases with envelopes, called Imprints. Awesome, right? Such time-savers they are.

Here are the Imprints that I chose for today's cards:

If you're like me, you couldn't imagine tossing your scraps, and you've got quite an assortment of them in your stash just begging to be used on a project.

I pulled some scraps that I had saved after my last Kinda Krafty project and laid them out on my table.

I grabbed a couple of my favorite punches and punched out a handful of shapes from the scraps.

For my first card, I glued 7 of the punched butterflies directly onto the Imprints card base. I adhered the "Good Job" sentiment, which was cut from the Kinda Crafty Chatterbox cardstock, using a foam square for dimension. Then I pulled some pearls from a Bella! Bling Borderlines pack and glued one to each butterfly.

For my second card (hey! challenge yourself to make your cards in pairs or sets- you'll be glad to have the extra cards in your stash), I glued the larger butterfly directly to the Imprints card base, added a little pearl, and then used foam squares to adhere the smaller butterflies in a whimsical fashion. I added a sentiment again cut from the Chatterbox cardstock sheet and called it complete.

So quick and easy but still handmade!
