Have you seen the mood board at Scrap Around the World this month? It's so very eye-catching! When I saw it, I knew exactly which photo I was going to use for it.
I pulled out a handful of UmWowStudio products, last month's My Creative Scrapbook Limited Edition kit (P.S. just wait until you see THIS month's kit! Breathtaking!), and mixed media goodies... and here is what I came up with!
I pulled out a handful of UmWowStudio products, last month's My Creative Scrapbook Limited Edition kit (P.S. just wait until you see THIS month's kit! Breathtaking!), and mixed media goodies... and here is what I came up with!
This is my little girl and two of her cousins. The three of them really love to pose!
I began this 12x12 layout with a layer of clear gesso, and then I had a lot of fun with Lindy's Stamp Gang mists in two shades of pink, orange, and blue along with Heidi Swapp Color Shine in gold. I LOVE the watercolor image included on the Scrap Around the World mood board, especially how the colors shift from one color to the next, kind of like a rainbow! So that is the look that I had in mind while creating my background.
Here's the mood board, see what I mean? :)
Visit Scrap Around the World to learn how to play along and for loads of inspiring samples.
I dressed up this UmWowStudio chipboard piece from the Doilies set using distress embossing ink with gold embossing powder on half of it and pink embossing powder on the other half. Then I dabbed on some super heavy gesso here and there with my finger.
Here I've used some gold and peach shades of embossing powder to dress up this UmWowStudio "noted" chip piece from the Arrow Title Mash set. I again dabbed on some super heavy gesso with my finger
Here you can get a close look at some of the stencil/super heavy gesso background work using the UmWowStudio Checker Board stencil. I prefer super heavy gesso instead of modeling paste because it seems to dry much whiter, and I love the brightness of that.
I also used some of the square punch-out pieces from an UmWowStudio Grid Border. I adhered them here and there, then traced around them with a black marker, and topped them off with messy dabs of super heavy gesso. I thought it was a fun way to put those negative pieces of chipboard to work to add some texture.
Thanks so much for visiting today!
