Altered Gifts

A couple of posts ago I mentioned that I had been working on some special altered items for Christmas gifts.  Now that Christmas is over I can share them with you :)

First is this 7gypsies altered frame for my mom.  I used the beautiful Fancy Pants Roadshow collection and a whole bunch of gorgeous Prima flowers.  The two photos that are there are from when my mom visited to meet Allison when she was just a few days old.  The two blank sections are reserved for photos from our Christmas visit last week.

Next is this altered clipboard.  When I saw the clipboard that Greta Hammond posted on the Fancy Pants blog a couple months ago, I knew I wanted to make one.  The photo is my sister-in-law and one of my Goddaughters.  Again I used the Fancy Pants Roadshow collection and several Prima flowers. I can't seem to get good photos of any of my projects during these dreary winter months!  This clipboard is so much more beautiful in person.

Here's another 7gypsies altered frame.  This one is for my mother-in-law. I used 7gypsies papers here and lots and lots of beautiful Prima flowers.  The first two photos are from her visit to meet Allison when she was a couple weeks old, and the next two are from our visit in the Fall.  The blank section is reserved for a photo from our Christmas visit earlier this week.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a very happy New Year!!!

Scrapbook Daisies January Kits Sneak Peeks!

I'm so excited to show you the sneak peeks of the Scrapbook Daisies January 2011 kits!  Feast your eyes on these four beauties:

Kit #1:  full kit featuring the Wintertime collection from Echo Park

Kit #2:  full kit featuring the Restoration collection from Crate Paper

Kit #3:  mini kit featuring the Little Boy collection from Echo Park

Kit #4:  mini kit featuring the Enchanted collection from Dear Lizzy/American Crafts

Martha is planning to post the full reveal of these kits on Friday 12/24.  I anticipate not having internet access that day, so I'll have to wait a bit longer to see them myself.  However, you can see them when she posts them that day in the Kit Chat section of the Scrapbook Daisies message board!

I can't wait to find out which kit I'll be working with.  Which one(s) will you be choosing?

Merry Christmas Frame

Here's a holiday decor item that I made to add to my December reveal for Scrapbook Daisies using some of my leftovers from the Everybody Loves Christmas kit and an inexpensive 5x7 picture frame.

To decorate the raw chipboard words "merry" and "christmas", I coated the chipboard with Glossy Accents and then covered them with the pretty pink Pixie Stix glitter from the kit. I let it all dry overnight and then shook off the excess glitter. Then to seal the glitter onto the chipboard I just covered it all with another thick coat of Glossy Accents. So now there won't be glitter everywhere (at least not from this project LOL!)

I have been working on some special altered items for Christmas gifts and I'm so excited to show them to you.  But, we'll have to wait until after Christmas since some of the recipients of those gifts visit my blog from time to time!

Primas plus Shabby Frames = Pretty Gifts

Need a last-minute handmade gift idea that's as easy as 1-2-3?

1. Head over to your local superstore and grab some inexpensive photo frames in various sizes.
2. Shabby them up with a sanding sponge, sand paper, or any distressing tool you have on hand.
3. Use your hot glue gun to adhere clusters of Prima flowers, leaves, and bling.

The above set of a 5x7 and a 4x6 is my favorite.

How could I make these and not do an all-pink one?! :)

I thought these made cute little gifts
(and what a fun way to use up some of those Primas we've been hoarding!)

If you make any of these frames I'd love to see them... link 'em up! :)
Thanks for stopping by!

Changes to Scrapbook Daisies Kit Club

Martha announced some exciting changes yesterday to Scrapbook Daisies kit club.  Here's what she had to say:

"I am bringing down the choices from 3 to 2 full kits per month

I will have 1 or 2 mini kits per month that will range between $15 - $20
The schedule will change as follows:

20th of the month - Sneak peeks
25th of the month - Full Reveals
25th - 28th - Member's kit selection
29th - Invoices are sent
29th - 3rd - Members must pay their invoices
2nd week of the month (Monday or Tuesday) kits will ship out

Hopefully this will assist me in getting the kits ready for you more timely and will assist you in getting payment to me promptly.

I am really excited about the changes that are coming, with today's economy the people that can not afford a full kit might be able to get a mini kit! The mini kits will have the same great quality of product just in smaller quantities."

Wooooooo did you see that?!  Mini Kits!  How cool is that?!  I can't wait to see them.  I think the new schedule is going to be really great, too.  I hope you will feel as excited about these changes as we on the design team do!  Now's a great time to become a member!

Scrapbook Daisies December Reveal!

I got to work with the super adorable Scrapbook Daisies "Everybody Loves Christmas" kit this month.  Here's what I've created so far.

How could I resist scrapping that photo of Allison?! It just melts me!

Those of you who have followed my stories of infertility probably have a sense of how thrilled I am to finally have a Christmas photo of my very own family in front of my very own Christmas tree :)  Really, I still cannot totally believe that I have a daughter of my own.  What's even more amazing to me is how incredibly wonderful she is.

By the way, I made those red and cream flowers out of cardstock from the kit, my flower punches, some misted water, my heat tool, and some adhesive.  They're really easy and fun to make (you can find lots of tutorials around the net for making them)!

This layout was intended to be a single-page, three-photo layout as per Kristine Davidson's wonderful sketch.

Well I loved all 6 of those photos so I decided to go with them all and make it a double-page layout.  Rather than getting super creative, though, I just simply did a mirror image for the second page.  I tried to place the embellishments in such a way that Allison looks to be riding in Santa's sleigh in between Santa and Rudolph; I know it's cheesy but I couldn't resist!

Don't forget to check out the Kit Chat section of the Scrapbook Daisies message board to see what the rest of the design team created with their kits!  While you're on the boards, check out the December design team challenges and the December sketch challenges... there's a Free Kit from Scrapbook Daisies ready to be mailed to the December challenge winner, so go on and get scrappin'!!!

Catching Up from Halloween

Halloween is obviously long gone by now but I realized I never shared this layout of my sweet little ghost ballerina!

I used this great sketch by Julie Bonner.
 Thanks for stopping by! :)
