I was so inspired by this month's mood board at Scrap Around the World that I had to take a much needed break from all of the end of the school year paperwork chaos for work and make time to play along with the challenge.
It felt really good to participate! If you are like me and don't have much time to join challenges, I highly recommend that you make time somehow and play along with this epic event at Scrap Around the World. I bet you'll feel good, like I did, making a page for yourself and having fun doing so. If that isn't enough, have you seen the massive assortment of prizes up for grabs?! I'd say that Scrap Around the World certainly knows how to celebrate their birthday!
To create the background, I first covered the white cardstock with a coat of clear gesso. I then used drops of various colors of mists... pinks, teals, black, and white... with drops of water to create a watercolor effect. I really enjoy this fun process!
When dry, I used a script stamp with some black distress ink to randomly lightly stamp around the page. Then I used the same distress ink here and there with a triangle stencil. I layered some super heavy gesso through another stencil to add texture.
When all was dry, I pulled out the My Creative Scrapbook January Limited Edition kit, which features the Tropical Punch collection from Kaisercraft, and a few additional goodies from my stash (that doily was courtesy of our local breakfast restaurant... they use those on the plates that they serve pancake syrup on! Too pretty for syrup if you ask me, which is why it ended up coming home with me and landed on this page LOL).
Several things about the Scrap Around the World mood board inspired me... the pretty pinks and hints of blue and green, the beautiful basket of flowers and the fallen petals, the sprinkles on the martini glass, and the texture on the icecream cone.
Thanks for stopping by today!
